The adventures in Iceland begin. by Kevin Hatcher

Where do I begin? A recap to bring you up to speed I suppose would be the best idea.

Snowboarding in Utah. February 2017.

I moved from Scotland to Boston, MA about six years ago with my wife, Aimee. It has been an amazing experience, and considering I had never set foot in the US of A until I landed, a great social and cultural learning curve too. My day job was as an engineer which would help fund my hobbies and adventures. I have tried to make the most out of any vacation time where possible, often spending time in New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, Washington, California, and Utah to go hiking, backpacking and snowboarding.

The Sun Voyager, (Icelandic: Sólfar) Reykjavik. March 2017.

A few months ago my wife was offered the opportunity to work in Iceland for six months. There is a long back story about her amazing new job that if you ever meet me, I can tell you over a beer. Naturally we jumped at the chance to live and work somewhere else, so we packed up enough gear for six months and arrived in Reykjavik on the 12th March 2017.

WOW! It has been two weeks today that we have been here! Time flies when you are having fun.

In the time I have been here I have:

  • Started writing this blog. Let me know what you think in the comments below.
  • Hiked up to Glymurfoss
  • Hiked up to Merkjárfoss/Gluggafoss.
  • Visited and explored some of þingvellir national park and taken pictures of öxarárfoss
  • Started Icelandic lessons at The Tin Can Factory in Reykjavik. Icelandic is HARD!
  • Swam and bathed in the Secret Lagoon.
  • Explored Reykjavik.
  • Explored the NE side of Reykjavik by car.

And there is so much more to do....hence the blog, so you can follow me! Or follow me on my Instagram account Kev Hatcher .

Oh and I will be going to Indonesia in July for three weeks to do some charity work for Habit For Humanity. Info is at my sponsorship site here

So I will keep the blog up to date with weekly stories, and planning ideas for the future.

Tonight we go to try and catch the Northern Lights at þingvellir national park.

Not a bad start...so much more to see.

Me at the top of Glymurfoss. March 2017.
